Washington DC might be a part of the Mid-Atlantic but it feels more similar to the North Pole in the holiday season, owing to the National Christmas Tree, holiday markets, unique seasonal light displays, etc. Below are some of the must-try holiday treats to experience while touring Washington DC anytime soon.
Check Out the National Christmas Tree
This large Christmas tree is the District’s claim to fame this festive season, and certainly for good reason. The beautiful conifer is in The Ellipse Park, where it is encircled by trees that are decorated with ornaments from US states as well as territories, accompanied by nightly music performances taking place through the festive season.
Witness ZooLights Take over the Smithsonian National Zoo
After hours, the zoo setting lights up with animated light installations, thousands of LEDs, live music, and more. The ZooLights event runs from November 23, 2018, to January 01, 2019. If you would want craft beers to make the incandescent setting completely fun, reserve the date for BrewLights. Yet note that it will likely be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.
Try Out Holiday-Themed Cocktail at “Miracle on 7th Street”
The conceptual pop-up bar of the famous mixologist named Derek Brown in the Shaw neighborhood will be decking its halls for the fourth year of “Miracle on 7th Street” with funky decorations. They include everything from a photo-worthy ode to the National Zoo’s pandas to a photo booth as well as a Hanukkah-themed mural. Chill out with cocktails at this winter wonderland from November 23 to December 31, 2018.
Enjoy Conifers on the US Capitol Christmas Tree
The Christmas tree, which will come from Oregon’s Willamette National Forest, will be lit up this early December. Of course, you can visit the tree spot on the US Capitol’s West Lawn. With the Capitol Building at the backdrop, this can be one of the gorgeous sights to see when on a private tour Washington DC.
